Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl May Not Include New Pokemon

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may stray from remake tradition, and only include the Pokemon that were around during the original game's release. A comment from Nintendo France appears to suggest that only Pokemon from the first four generations will be included in the upcoming re-release, meaning we won't see any of the later additions around Sinnoh.

If true, this is a much different approach from previous remakes, as they instead opted to include any Pokemon that had been released by the time of its own launch. This meant that gen four Pokemon made it into both the gen two and gen three remakes, but the same courtesy will not be extended here.

In a Facebook comment seen by Nintendo Smash, the official account for Nintendo France is translated as saying you can, "rediscover all Pokemon up to 4G". However, it is worth noting that this comment cannot currently be found on the page, indicating that it has been taken down.

Instead, a post from August is much the same, but leaving out the bit about it only being up to the fourth generation. Either Nintendo is wanting to announce this disappointing news at a later date, or the French team got mixed up.

Of course, this wouldn't be an unsurprising move given the infamous "Dexit" of Pokemon Sword and Shield. For the first time, not every Pokemon made it into a main series title, so it's possible that's the approach the team will have going forward.
