Pokemon Fan Shows Off Incredible Custom Gengar Game Boy

Pokemon fans continue to celebrate their love for the long-running series through fan art and other DIY projects. One image circulating the internet right now shows a Game Boy with a unique Gengar twist to it.

A Reddit user known as Takezoretoro recently shared their version of a classic Game Boy Color with the community. This Pokemon-inspired Game Boy is renamed the Ghost Boy, and it prominently features the generation one Gengar sprite. Taking up most of the Game Boy's face, Gengar grins back at whoever is playing the aptly named device.

This Ghost Boy Color is black and purple, similar to the ghost-type Pokemon Gengar. Upon booting up Pokemon Red and Blue, fans will be greeted with a battle Gengar and Nidorino. Considering Pokemon Red and Blue released on the original Game Boy Color, this platform is the ideal place for Takezoretoro to celebrate their love of the Pokemon.

Takezoretoro's Ghost Boy is sparkly, making the Gengar sprite in the middle pop out even more. This custom Game Boy Color has a Q5 IPS backlit screen which will make playing through the night a lot easier than it was when the Game Boy Color released. Takezoretoro designed a custom glass lens for the Game Boy Color in order to rename it the Ghost Boy Color.

From the original gen-1 Gengar sprite to the Ghost Boy glass lens, Takezoretoro's custom Gengar Game Boy has inspired several other Reddit users. Over 2,000 other Pokemon fans have shown interest in Takezoretoro's custom Gengar Game Boy Color and have asked them many questions regarding how the handheld was made.

Takezoretoro was quick to mention that they share even more images of other custom Game Boy's on Instagram. The Reddit user also confirmed that they sell custom GameBoy's similar to the Gengar one on Instagram and would be able to create more of them for fans who are interested. The Reddit user has also created a Pokemon Purple version in order to complete this custom Gengar Game Boy Color.

One Reddit user envisioned what it would have been like owning this Gengar Game Boy Color when the first generation of Pokemon released in 1998. Although custom Game Boy's were far less common back then, this Gengar Game Boy Color would have doubtlessly garnered a lot of interest. While the Pokemon fans of Reddit have gleefully observed this Gengar Game Boy Color, the truly interested fans are reaching out to Takezoretoro on Instagram.
