Pokemon GO: Best Lugia Counters for September Raid Hour

September 2021 is now well underway and Pokemon GO trainers are already flying through this month’s event calendar. The action continues this week with the Psychic Spectacular, but that’s just part of the fun. There will also be a special Raid Hour tomorrow that offers trainers a chance to throw down against Lugia.

This week’s Pokemon GO Raid Hour takes place on Wednesday 8th September 6pm till 7pm local time. During that time, trainers around the world should have no problems finding a Lugia Battle Raid at just about any Gym in sight. Trainers will want to team up with a group and get ready for the Legendary encounter by preparing some strong counters.

It has been a while since Lugia was originally available as a 5-star Battle Raids, so that means there are new Pokemon, including Mega Evolutions, to consider when developing a lineup for the fight. Keep in mind that Lugia is a Flying- and Psychic-types. That combo gives it a few interesting strengths and weaknesses, but most players should focus on powerful Electric- and Rock-type counters to make the fight go as smoothly as possible.   • Gengar (Mega) – Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball
  • Manectric (Mega) -Snarl/Wild Charge
  • Kyurem (Black) – Shadow Claw/Blizzard
  • Zekrom – Charge Beam/Wild Charge
  • Houndoom (Mega) – Snarl/Foul Play
  • Darmanitan (Galarian Zen) – Ice Fang/Avalanche
  • Darkrai – Snarl/Shadow Ball
  • Magnezone – Spark/Wild Charge
  • Raikou – Thunder Shock/Wild Charge
  • Tyranitar – Bite/Stone Edge
  • Giratina (Origin) – Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball

As always, there are lots of other counters out there that can still get the job done, but players who want to power through this Legendary Battle Raid without any problems would have the best luck if they used at least some of the options outlined above. Remember to take a close look at each Pokemon's moveset and current power level before adding them to the counter roster. It may be necessary to burn through some TMs, Stardust, and Candy in order to properly prepare each counter for the big fight ahead.
