Pokemon GO: Kangaskhan Raid Guide | Game Rant

The raid boss rotation has changed once again in Pokemon GO with players currently able to battle Pokemon that are usually specific to certain regions around the world. For a limited time, players can battle these Pokemon and attempt to capture them before they become region-locked once again.

One of the current three-star raid bosses players can battle at this time is Kangaskhan. Like the rest of the first Pokemon generation, its shiny form is available in Pokemon GO, so lucky players may be able to catch not only this rare Pokemon but its even rarer variant as well.

Kangaskhan will be available as a raid boss worldwide up until August 20th at 10:00 am in players' local times. This means that players wanting this Pokemon or any of the other current raid bosses will have to actively pursue them before their time runs out.

Being a three-star raid boss, Kangaskhan will be a tough fight, but not nearly as difficult as the Mega raid bosses or the five star raid bosses. Still, it is recommended for most players to challenge this raid with other players participating to make sure all of Kangaskhan's health is depleted before the time runs out.

Kangaskhan is a pure Normal-type Pokemon, making it only weak to Fighting-type moves. It, however, also only has one type resistance, being Ghost-type moves. Unlike in the mainline Pokemon titles, Ghost-type moves will still do some damage, but the damage will only do 39% of its total power.

There are luckily plenty of Fighting-type Pokemon and Pokemon that can learn Fighting-type moves that can be used against Kangaskhan for the raid battle. Some of the best ones for this job are:

Lucario – Counter and Aura Sphere

Conkeldurr – Counter and Dynamic Punch

Breloom – Counter and Dynamic Punch

Machamp – Counter and Dynamic Punch

Blaziken – Counter and Focus Blast

After defeating Kangaskhan, players will be able to go at their attempt to catch Kangaskhan for themselves. Being a Normal-type, it has a wide variety of move types it can use, but its best moveset has it know Mud-Slap for its fast move and Outrage for its charge move. Because Kangaskhan is the only Pokemon in its evolutionary line, all candies for this Pokemon can be used to help power it up, with no evolutions to worry about. Mega Kangaskhan is not currently available in Pokemon GO as of this time.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
