The Pokemon Company International have announced a Pokemon Presents livestream for just before Pokemon Day.

The presentation will premiere February 26th at 7:00 a.m. PT via YouTube. This is prior to Pokemon Day itself on the 27th- celebrating the launch of the first Pokemon games in 1996 in Japan 25 years ago.

The presentation has lead to fresh speculation for the rumored remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl; though at this time no new credible leaks and rumors have surfaced. Two subdomains to the Pokemon website had previously gone live (with only a 403 error), but were taken down soon after the news spread. These were diamondpearl.pokemon.com, and legends.pokemon.com.

Twitter user pixelpar claimed the Poke Ball Plus peripheral is getting a reprint. This accessory was used in Let’s Go, Pikachu and Let’s Go, Eevee; remakes of the original Red and Blue using Pokemon Go catching mechanics, and simplified battle mechanics only against trainers.

The Pokemon Twitter account has also been counting down the days to Pokemon Day on February 27th, featuring past Starter Pokemon from prior games. When they tweeted Let’s go, Sinnoh!some speculated that the Diamond and Pearl remakes would be a Let’s Go game, instead of a mainline entry.

The presentation may also discuss Pokemon Go, New Pokemon Snap, the Tencent developed MOBA Pokemon Unite (which recently held a beta in Canada), Pokemon Cafe Mix, Pokemon Sleep, or Pokemon Smile.

Starting today (until March 25th), players of Pokemon Sword and Shield can also download a Pikachu with the moves Sing and Celebrate, via the Mystery Gift code P25MUS1C. The 27th itself will see a special Pokemon Day Virtual Concert with rapper Post Malone.

In other recent news, the Pokemon World Championships 2021 have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. While tournaments have been held online in their stead, it may mean Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will never have a physical world championships before the next mainline entry is announced, or even launched.
