The success of the Pokemon franchise is remarkable. The video games seem to print money for Nintendo, the animated series is watched by countless youngsters, and the merchandise is everywhere, from Pokeball backpacks to Pikachu stuffed animals. And as an added bonus, the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TGC) has been going strong for decades, after starting in 1998. And now, the release date for the newest TGC set has been confirmed.

The Vivid Voltage Expansion, which includes a Fat Pickachu VMAX card, will be hitting stores in North America on November 13. The expansion is built around Pokemon: Sword and Shield, so players can expect to find eighth-generation Pokemon such as Orbeedle and Zarude in the set.

The Vivid Voltage Expansion will also include Legendary cards featuring the likes of Celebi, Jirachi, and Rayquaza. There are various rare cards in the expansion that fans will hope to snag. Eventually, that rare Pokemon card could go for $200,000, so it would be wise to take good care of those more rare cards.

The design of the new cards is striking, featuring a holographic type finish and rich colors. The idea of collecting brand new Pokemon, thanks to Sword and Sheild, and classic favorites with a new coat of paint is certainly intriguing. And if players would like to start off the expansion with a bang, they can purchase the Fat Pikachu themed Elite Trainer set that includes 65 card sleeves. These expansions are just part of the story when it comes to news and Pokemon TGC, as even a Pokemon board game was released recently.

With the card game starting over twenty years ago, it may seem hard to get into Pokemon TGC. However, any time is a good time to jump in and there are now countless cards to collect, whether for fun or to play and compete in the game itself. Pokemon has become perhaps the most accessible gaming brand thanks branching out in so many different ways, starting with the role-playing games and now being seemingly everywhere.

Fans of Pokemon TGC range from children trading cards in the schoolyard to hardcore fans who compete to creative individuals who make augmented reality Pokemon cards. Now that the Vivid Voltage cards are coming to North America, after being released in Japan, fans will be able to buy the Elite Trainer set or the blister packs in stores, which will have promo cards for the starters from Sword and Sheild in them as well. No matter the Pokemon TGC fan, there are wonderful options for all.
