Pokemon Unite Players Want A Patch To Decrease Respawn Times

Pokemon Unite is full of comeback features, hoping to ensure that the losing team is never without hope, and can always find a way to turn a game around. These, however, have proven controversial, with fans either feeling like they don't work, or unfairly punish the team in the lead.

Such is the case with the MOBA's respawn times. While there is no official guide on how respawning works, anyone who has played the game will tell you that it seems to take longer towards the end of the match, especially if you've been doing well. In the beginning, you can be back in the fight within five seconds, but towards the end you could be looking at a 40 second wait. Many fans believe this is far too long, and are calling on the developers to patch this.

On r/PokemonUnite, one of the top threads is titled "Increasing respawn timers for doing well is a HORRIBLE game mechanic". The replies are almost completely in agreement, with the consensus being that while scaling the respawn based on performance isn't a bad idea, its implementation is currently too unfair.

The main point of concern is that players who have been playing well throughout the match are missing most of the final two minutes if they're killed. However, some are also complaining that it's equally as unfair on the other end of the scale – kills are made meaningless at the start of the match, because the players you kill come back so quickly that you can't take advantage of their absence.

BotMaster6000 says, "At the beginning the respawn is so short that you can't even score after defeating the enemies, but then later in the game it's so long you're losing 10% of the game." To mitigate the issue with the losing side respawning too quickly, KekkenGenkai suggests, "What if killing the enemy would give a score shield? Even with the low respawn timers, you could actually score."

This isn't the only comeback feature that's attracting debate. The Zapdos discourse took hold of the player base from day one, with many seeing the fact that killing one Pokemon can net you 200 goals as unfair. Developer Timi is yet to comment on these player grievances.
