Project Wingman Is Coming To Xbox Consoles

0

Project Wingman was a darling indie Steam release last holiday season, racking up sales to nearly beat out Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam's sellers' list, but racked up way more positive reviews. Currently, Project Wingman sits at an "overwhelmingly positive" 94% with over 6,500 user reviews.

Almost eight months later, Project Wingman is preparing to take off into brand new airspace. Project Wingman is coming to Xbox consoles.

The news came as part of a sizzle reel broadcast during the ID@Xbox showcase, along with a whole bunch of other indie games that are making Xbox their first console launch. Games like Frontier, Sable, Mad Streets, and Soup Pot are also taking off on Xbox after successful PC launches.

Project Wingman is a love letter to the Ace Combat franchise, featuring very similar arcade-style flight combat and a story arc tied together across over 20 missions. The game also features a roguelike game mode called Conquest Mode where the player tries to conquer as much land as possible in a single life.

We got a hint that Project Wingman had tied itself to Xbox with a surprise Game Pass release last month. That was only for the PC version of Game Pass, but if the game is being ported to Xbox, one suspects it’ll get an Xbox Game Pass release at the same time, as have so many games before.

It'll probably be good business for Project Wingman, too. Sarah Bond, head of game creator experience at ID@Xbox, told us that since the program's creation ID@Xbox has generated over $2 billion in revenue for indie developers. Clearly, Xbox is here to make indie dreams come true.

We don't know when Project Wingman will launch on Xbox, but you can get it on Game Pass for PC and Steam right now. In the meantime, Hades is coming to Game Pass in just a few days, and that'll likely keep you satisfied until then.
