Third party console exclusives have become relatively uncommon in the games industry as time has gone on, but it seems they seem to be making a comeback with the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Both consoles have already announced a fair few of these already, with Xbox Series X boasting the likes of The Medium and STALKER 2, and heavyweights such as Project Athia, Deathloop, and GhostWire: Tokyo having pledged exclusivity to the PS5.

As far as the PS5 is concerned, it seems there’s still more third party exclusives coming to the console that have yet to be announced. Speaking recently during a podcast published by Rand al Thor 19 on YoTube, Widows Central writer Jez Corden said that he’s heard Sony has many more “major” third party exclusivity deals in place that they haven’t yet talked about.

Rumours and speculation always flood the internet at the onset of new console generations, so it’s best not to put too much stock in anything that doesn’t come from official channels, but considering Sony’s track record, that doesn’t seem like much of a stretch. One would assume that like the first game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 (or whatever it ends up being called) will also be exclusive to PlayStation, while there have also been more than a few rumours about a Silent Hill reboot being exclusive to the PS5.

When Sony might announce these major third party exclusives – if they’re real – remains to be seen, but with a PS5-focused State of Play heavily rumoured for this month, it’s possible that we might hear more about them very soon.
