Psychonauts 2: Where to Find All Psychoseismometers

Quick Links

Psychonauts 2 is filled with optional missions Raz can embark on throughout his adventure to stop the evil Maligula's return, from a lengthy scavenger hunt to a wild goose chase to find his music-obsessed younger brother, Queepie. Once the world opens up, one mission he'll be able to undertake sees him on the lookout for three mysterious machines known as Psychoseismometers. However, they aren't exactly easy to find.

To get the mission, players will have to have fixed Hollis' mind and lured out the three fragments of Ford Cruller, at which point they'll be provided access outside of the Motherlobe by Truman Zanotto. Following a cutscene where Raz reunites with his family, they'll have free rein to explore The Quarry, The Questionable Area, and more. Once leaving the Motherlobe, players should head left and jump across some platforms on the lake.

Ahead of them will be a giant tree. After using the nearby terrain to scale it, players will reach the top of a treehouse Morris is using as a pirate radio station. Gisu is also in the hideout and will ask Raz to track down the Psychoseismometers for her.

They're all fairly close together, so the mission shouldn't take players too long to complete if they know where they're looking. That being said, it's worth noting that each Psychoseismometer offers a combat scenario when Raz accesses them, so it's good to come prepared.

The first Psychoseismometer you'll come across is located in the quarry and can be found on the way to the cave leading to the Questionable Area. It's not too far from where Raz first encounters Frazie in Psychonauts 2's story, as the pair argue after she throws a pinecone at him. Grind across the two rails in front of the Psychoisolation building, swing across the branches, head to the right, use the trapeze, and players will land on a ledge overlooking a drop into the quarry.

Directly to the player's right should be a sign for the Blastcap Becky Cave, and just beside the sign should be an entrance covered in cobwebs. Burn them using pyrokinesis and head inside. The rest should be fairly straightforward, with the cave providing a linear platforming section where players have to jump across rocks and climb vines to reach a small clearing. Once they reach the area, to their right will be the first Psychoseismometer.

The next two Psychoseismometers are found within Psychonauts 2's Questionable Area, although they're fairly well-hidden. The first is nestled in the tree-tops above the woodland locale, so it can be hard to find without a little guidance. Upon heading through the entrance to the main section of the Questionable Area, players should go left until they see a large wooden sign that reads "Campfire?"

In the bushes just to the left of the sign will be a climbable pole. Players need to scale it and jump into the tree-top walkways, following the path to the right and jumping across the bouncy yellow mushrooms to move upward. Eventually, they'll come across a giant gust of air moving between the tree they're standing on and the one opposite it.

Jump into the draft and use the levitation psi-power to reach the opposite tree's walkway and gain access to the second Psychoseismometer. Be warned that the Psychoseismometer combat scenarios grow more difficult each time, so it's good to be stocked up on health or bring a PSI pop.

The third and final Psychoseismometer is not too far from the second. When going through the entrance to the Questionable Area's main section, take a right instead of a left, cross the broken bridge, and take another right into the Aquato family's campgrounds. When entering through the wooden archway to the camp, players will see a clearing directly to their left.

Follow it to find two climbable rocks. After jumping across them, players will see the entrance to a cave that's blocked by a pile of loose rocks. Use the PSI blast ability to knock the rubble out of the way and access the small area. Inside, players will find the third Psychoseismometer and take on the sidequest's most challenging combat scenario yet.

After defeating the Psychoseismometer's enemies, players will be able to head back to the treehouse, find Gisu, and turn in the quest. With that done, they can turn their attention back to Psychonauts 2's various collectibles, including collecting every Emotional Baggage and Nugget of Wisdom.

Psychonauts 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
