PUBG Adds Potential Emergency Landing Scenario To Plane Drops

Like any battle royale, PUBG opens with you in the sky before you leap out, parachuting or gliding to a destination ripe for looting and gunslinging. However, in its latest update, PUBG has added a caveat that's unique for the genre. The plane can now have an engine failure meaning that it will begin an emergency landing. With this, the descent will be much quicker as height drops drastically.

You'll notice this easily because the plane will catch fire as it starts to lose altitude at an alarming pace. If you jump early, you'll be able to travel far due to the height but, if you leave too late, you'll have less wiggle room for parachuting. However, if – for whatever reason – you decide to stay in the plane until it lands, you'll take 50% damage.

This is part of the 13.1 update as outlined in the patch notes. There's a wealth of other changes besides the engine failure scenario. For example, to address the complaint of care packages in that only one player can swipe all the loot, more will now drop. There's one standard and 5-15 small care packages that can be deployed per match at random.

There is also now a new secret room on Taego that requires hidden keys to access. Once in, you'll get "top-tier gear, including items not found elsewhere on the Battlegrounds." It's a scavenger hunt to help out with the Chicken Dinner.

PUBG also now has a 37% increase in Self AED spawns, a 1% increase in stocks, a 14% decrease in stun grenades, and a 3% decrease in Molotov cocktails. Emergency pickups, C4, and spike traps have been added to the item pool as well.

Finally, Paramo has been removed from the map rotation while Karakin has been added. So, you can now potentially crash a plane in Erangel, Miramar, Sanhok, Vikendi, and Karakin. Aside from that, there are the usual bug fixes, balancing tweaks, and map updates. All of this is live now.

You can play PUBG on Xbox, mobile, and PC.
