QuakeCon 2021 Will Be All Digital

QuakeCon 2021 is underway for this August but it will be an all-digital event.

Bethesda revealed that QuakeCon at Home will continue this year from August 19 to August 21 with live streams providing updates on upcoming releases and current games. It will also sport charity fundraising, tournaments, and giveaways.

It will be in the same vein as last year's event which was a transition from the usual in-person convention held in Dallas, Texas to an all-digital affair thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can catch the festivities at 7 pm GMT with "special influencer streams" and developer appearances.

The charities attending are NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), UNICEF, and The Trevor Project. As well as those, the annual animal charity t-shirts are returning and the profits made on these will be divided up between FOUR PAWS, Custom Ink, and Dallas Pets Alive. This year's shirts are themed around Doom and Deathloop. One is a parody with the logo 'Catloop' while the other mocks one of the enemies in id Software's FPS – it's called the 'Pugcubus'.

As for this year's partners, QuakeCon is teaming up with BAWLS, Fractal Design, Raze, Pecos Pete, Alienware, and SteelSeries.

It isn't clear what games will be talked about but, as spotted by IGN, there are tags at the bottom of the blog post for Deathloop and Doom Eternal although those could be for the aforementioned shirts.

However, we might find out more about the illustrious multi-platform id Software title that was rated by the Australian Classification Board last month. It was dubbed Project 2021B and rated M for Mature. For context, Doom 3: VR Edition was labeled as Project 2021A and so it could be another VR outing.

You can watch QuakeCon 2021 here come August 19.
