This weekend is the perfect time to gear up, grab your firends, and dive into the action that is Rainbow Six Siege. Starting now and running until tomorrow, Sunday, Rainbow Six Siege is hosting a “Free Weekend” where players can hop into the action for free. Not only is the game free, but players can earn double XP in the North Star Battle Pass for the weekend.
Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person shooter entry in the Rainbow Six series. Released back in 2015, the game was initially criticized for its lack of content. However, a slew of DLC’s released after the game’s launch allowed Siege to amass a dedicated fanbase that has kept the game popular and relevant. Now players can experience the excitement of the tactical shooter for free. Though this offer only runs for the weekend, it's a great time to try it out and see if it's worth the cost. Plus, the game is often discounted through Ubisoft so it wouldn’t put too much hurt on the wallet.

Though Rainbow Six Siege is over six years old Ubisoft has no plans to make the game free-to-play permanently. According to the game’s director, this is due to the constant updates made to the game that brings new content for players to enjoy and keeps the game fresh. Though, the game does host “Free Weekends” like the one currently happening often to draw in new players.
Along with the “Free Weekend”, players are also treated to double XP within the North Star Battle Pass this weekend. The North Star Battle Pass was introduced to the game last month and brought with it several updates to the game including new operator Thunderbird, a new death sequence, changes to the Favela map, and more. This double XP is important for those determined to climb through the battle pass as there are an infinite number of tiers. Though base rewards stop at Tier 100, Alpha packs are unlocked every five tiers afterward, letting players continue forever, or at least until August 30 when the battle pass expires to prepare for Season 3.
