Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Has Sold 1.1 Million Copies

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has already sold 1.1 million copies. Pretty impressive for an exclusive that has only been on the market for a little more than a month.

PlayStation revealed a boatload of numbers this week, the most impressive being that it has already managed to sell 10 million PS5s despite all the hurdles in its way. It is the fastest-selling console in PlayStation history, reaching that milestone 20 days faster than the PS4 did seven years ago.

A handful of stats about particular game sales were also revealed. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was among the titles mentioned as the sequel has already topped one million copies sold. 1.1 million copies to be exact as of July 18, 2021. Pretty impressive as that date was only five weeks after Rift Apart's launch.

Rift Apart's 1.1 million copies sold also means more than one in ten PS5 owners have the game since it is a PS5 exclusive. Unless a few people have already bought a copy as they continue to hunt for a console to play it on, which is entirely possible. Insomniac can add this accomplishment to the list after being the best-selling game in June regardless of platform.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales's sales to date dwarf those of Rift Apart, but there are a couple of obvious reasons for that. The sort-of sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man has shifted 6.5 million copies so far. However, it has been available since November 2020, and also launched on both PS4 and PS5. Both Miles Morales and Rift Apart returned to the top ten in the UK boxed charts this week after a fresh injection of PS5 stock hit a number of retailers.

Elsewhere, PS5 exclusive Returnal is on 560,000 copies sold and counting. Another impressive figure, despite it being far lower, since it is an entirely new game without other massive installments to back it up like Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank. PlayStation has plenty more exclusives to look forward to in the not-to-distant future including Kena: Bridge Of Spirits, the release date of which was pushed back to September this week.
