Redditor Finds "Tinder Speedrunning" Video

You’re likely familiar with the term “speedrun.” Typically, we see people speedrunning games—essentially trying to get through them as quickly as possible by any means necessary. Just the other day, we discovered that the world record for a Persona 5 Royal speedrun is 14 hours and 23 minutes. Despite P5R generally being around a 100-hour game, this person was able to accomplish this through a bit of skill, luck, and taking advantage of the Shido Palace skip.

But now, we have discovered a new version of speedrunning through someone’s post on Reddit. Who says it can only apply to video games? A user that goes by the name of Shlub on YouTube broke the world record a while back for speedrunning a Tinder date, and the process is a bit amusing.

This person did not previously have a Tinder, so they started by going through the motions of creating an account. In the bio section, they wrote “ALERT I am trying to set the world record for speed running this app! Swipe up if you are available NOW to do something! We will meet up at the closest starbucks and I will buy you $20 worth of whatever to whoever responds First!!!!!!!” Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of that?

After setting everything up, they set their account to live, and the timer began. Frantically, this person began swiping right on every single profile until one minute in, they ran out of likes. Due to this, they spent $5 paying for an upgrade to Tinder in hopes that would up their chances at getting a date quickly. Luckily, this seemed to do the trick, because two matches were eventually made.

At about three hours in, this person finally got in their car to head out of a date. Unfortunately, they’d taken the speedrunning bit out of their bio, so the woman going on the date was unaware of this aspect. However, she was informed once on the date and never appears on camera until after she was properly updated.

By the time the date left and the timer was stopped, the Tinder speedrun record—from first making a profile to fully completing a date—was five hours and four minutes.
