Resident Evil 3 Remake May Be Getting an Update

It has been more than a year since Capcom released Resident Evil 3 Remake into the market. With only a paid DLC centered on aesthetics and weaponry, Capcom has not produced single-player content for the title since its launch. However, with recent developer activity discovered on the Steam database, many RE3 Remake fans are likely already speculating about whether an update is coming to the survival-horror video game.

Though Resident Evil 3 Remake does not offer its players new content in the story, the game's community provides enough mods to keep their fellow fans entertained. Many have produced hilarious tweaks that make the game more fun and exciting, while other modifications aim to beautify the visuals. One has even replaced the protagonist Jill Valentine with popular RE8 character Lady Dimitrescu. Given that most players cannot actually control Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village, this provides a new gameplay experience even if they are on a completely different title in the franchise.

On Steam's database for Resident Evil 3 Remake, players have likely noticed that the page has been updated in the past few days, specifically under the Branches table. According to Steam, these branches are normally used to store the previous versions of the game, and even test new content or updates. The activity within that specific table is also labeled "QA," which may stand for quality assurance. This hints that Capcom's developers may be testing out something new. However, it is not confirmed if these are never-seen-before content or simple patch updates. Players will also likely note that the latest update has "TU1" in it, possibly alluding to the term title update.

With no official news from Capcom on whether it has more plans for Resident Evil 3 Remake, fans are likely left to speculate with little hints like these. Given that the remake is one of the more popular titles in the franchise, many of its fans have likely hoped that the remastered edition would have more story content that would have made it stand apart from the original. However, RE3 Remake ended up cutting story content, much to the fanbase's disappointment.

Nevertheless, Resident Evil 3 fans still have much to look forward to from Capcom and the whole survival-horror franchise. Much hype is being drawn by the live-action film Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City, which is going to be based on the first two titles. Hopefully the movie will be produced and received by audiences well, as this can set the stage for a live-action film inspired by Resident Evil 3 as well.

Resident Evil 3: Remake is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
