Capcom have Announced a Resident Evil Showcase, revealing the first gameplay for Resident Evil Village.

The presentation will be hosted by Brittney Brombacher, showing the game’s first gameplay, a new trailer, and other news about the Resident Evil series. We also see other major members of the development team; including producers Peter Fabiano, and Tsuyoshi Kanda.

The presentation will begin January 21st, 2:00 p.m. PST / 11 p.m. CET on Twitch and YouTube. Based on the teaser trailer, it seems several pieces of information from prior rumors [1, 2] may be true. The discussion of the franchise as a whole may also indicate other games or media being revealed.

You can find the teaser below, along with the recently uploaded footage from their Tokyo Game Show 2020 online presentation.

In addition, the Resident Evil Village website has updated, revealing a closed beta test to celebrate the series 25th anniversary. Users can sign up now, for the closed beta which will run at specific times across January 29th to January 30th. Registration ends January 25th, 6:59 a.m. PST.

Those who are Resident Evil Ambassadors will have a greater chance of getting into the closed beta. Silver ranked Ambassadors have double the chance, while Gold have five times, and Platinum ten times the chance.

Curiously, the closed beta is on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; neither platforms Resident Evil Village is currently confirmed for. It may therefore be possible there will be a stand-alone online mode; much like Resident Evil: Resistance was to Resident Evil 3 (2020). A Resident Evil Battle Royale was mentioned in the Capcom leaks of November 2020.
