Resident Evil Village PS5 Demo Runs at Native 4K and (Mostly) Stable 60 FPS, Analysis Reveals

After their big Resident Evil Village blowout yesterday, Capcom shadow dropped a demo for the game called “Maiden” exclusively for PS5. Featuring a new protagonist and with zero focus on combat, the Maiden demo is a standalone experience that’s meant more as a sneak peak at the visual fidelity that Capcom are promising for the full game when it launches in a few months. Now, we have specific numbers to judge that sneak peak by.

YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits recently uploaded a technical analysis of the Maiden demo, revealing some interesting details. The demo consistently runs at a native 4K, and mostly seems to maintain a stable 60 FPS frame rate (though there are some dips to the low 50s here and there). It also seems like the textures have taken some hits compared to what was shown in footage during the showcase.

Given the demo’s nature as a PS5 exclusive, it paints a good and optimistic feature of how the final game will fare on the new consoles, and with Capcom having three and a half months to polish up the game, hopefully things will only improve. Of course, it remains to be seen how the game will run on old-gen hardware- I’m sure Capcom will want to avoid a Cyberpunk 2077 situation.

Meanwhile, a second separate demo of the game will also be releasing for all platforms this Spring, so we’ll get a better idea of things on all hardware then.

Resident Evil Village launches for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 7. You can get details on its digital and collector’s editions as well as pre-order bonuses through here.
