Respawn Fixes Bugged Apex Packs, Provides Make-Good Pack For Apex Legends Players

Two and a half years on, Apex Legends continues to chug along as one of the top competitors in the battle royale scene. Only a few days remain before Respawn Entertainment’s first-person shooter enters its tenth season, titled Emergence, bringing with it the usual amount of new content for players to look forward to. Better yet, they’ll be able to enter Apex Legends’ new season without having to worry about a recent issue that’s affected their hard-earned rewards.

Battle royales are constantly growing and evolving experiences, so it’s no surprise that games like Apex, Fortnite, and Call of Duty: Warzone experience technical problems from time to time. This hasn’t done much to damper fans’ excitement for Season 10 in the final week before launch, but players did find one thing to to get frustrated over, thanks to Apex Packs not working as intended for some of them.

Over the past few days, fans have taken to social media to report the issue, sharing screenshots and videos showing Apex Packs only giving out two items instead of the usual three. What was causing this was unknown, but considering that Apex Packs are one of Apex Legends’ main forms of microtransactions, it’s understandable that fans are upset over not getting everything they paid for.

Another wrinkle came from players who reported experiencing the same issue, but with the addition of a server error message that read, “Some items in the Apex Pack have not been authored in the game yet." This resulted in speculation that the missing items could actually be ones meant to debut in Season 10, like cosmetics for upcoming Legend Seer and the new Rampage LMG, that were mistakenly dropped into the game early.

Luckily, players don’t have to worry about trying to figure out the problem anymore, since Respawn has already stepped in and addressed the bug, while also revealing that that the problem wasn’t related to Apex's Season 10 items but rather was due to a “new Lifeline tracker configured to drop in Apex Packs too early.” Furthermore, the developer stated that affected players will receive a “make-good pack” as compensation.

While that takes care of one problem ahead of the new season, there’s always a chance that new issues could arise once it drops. Players have expressed concerns over whether the game’s servers will remain stable amid the influx of new content, while others are worried that Seer’s Recon-focused abilities may make him too powerful. These are valid concerns, surely, but whether they end up being substantiated will only start to become clear when Season 10 kicks off on August 3.

Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
