Rocket League Adding Ratchet and Clank DLC | Game Rant

Rocket League Adding Ratchet And Clank Dlc

Rocket League is no stranger to crossover events. Since the game’s launch back in 2015, popular companies such as Lamborghini have brought versions of their vehicles to Psyonix’s game. Recently, the developers announced that a new round of DLC would bring items based off the Ratchet and Clank series to the game.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, the developers gave a breakdown of the Rocket League crossover with Insomniac Games, the creators of Ratchet and Clank. Items featured in the DLC include the Ratchet and Clank Punk Decal for the Octane, Negatron Collider Boost, the Clank Balloon Topper, and the Ratchet Balloon Topper. According to Jeremy Dunham, product and content strategy director at Psyonix, the opportunity to bring the series to Rocket League was a dream come true. “We’re big fans of Ratchet & Clank here at Psyonix and it’s one of PlayStation’s most iconic franchises,” he said.

While the new DLC releases on August 18, fans of the Lombax and his metal friend have until January 3, 2022 to pick up the in-game items. These new items are free, and all players need to do in order to claim them is sign into Rocket League on a PS4 or PS5. Unfortunately, for those playing the game on other platforms, the new content is exclusive to Sony consoles.

Along with this new DLC, players will now be able to view their new Ratchet and Clank gear in better quality as Psyonix unveiled a new Video Quality setting for those on PS5. The setting contains two different presets for players to choose between: Quality and Performance. Quality mode provides 60fps gameplay at 4K resolution along with the inclusion of HDR for compatible displays. Performance downscales the resolution to 2688×1512 but runs the game at 120fps. This means that PS5 players can now finally play the game at higher frame rates, something that Xbox Series X/S players have been doing for a while now.

It makes sense that the developers would want to bring Ratchet and Clank DLC to Rocket League. Insomniac Games recently launched Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart for the PS5. The third-person shooter platform game lets players control Ratchet along with series newcomer Rivet as they attempt to take down Emperor Nefarious. The game has become one of the most successful games on Sony’s next-gen console. The inclusion of items based on the iconic characters from the series serves to increase hype surrounding both games.

This news comes as Season 4 of Rocket League is under way. In addition to the Ratchet and Clank DLC, the developers have added new 2v2 and Extra Mode Tournaments to the game. With the addition of a Desert arena and a new purchasable Rocket Pass, players seem to have no shortage of things to check out in the game.

Rocket League is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
