Rumor: Leaked Halo Infinite Battle Royale Mode Has Big Connection to the Story Campaign

Halo Infinite Battle Royale Campaign Leak

It's been a big couple of weeks for Halo Infinite. After it's E3 2021 coming out party, 343 Industries continued that positive trend with new reveals as well as the game's first, albeit limited, testing weekend. A small portion of players got access to a weekend play session going against bots of various difficulties, such as the ODST Halo bots which impressed players with their human-like behavior. At the end of the playtest weekend, the game had received a lot of positive momentum and praise from fans.

However, along with all of the positivity has come a rash of new leaks some more substantial than others. During the Flight Test weekend, 343 accidentally included some files that contained spoilers related to the Halo Infinite campaign. The studio was quick to remove them, fans managed to track down even more materials through datamining including an audio clip of longtime announcer Jeff Steitzer saying the phrase Battle Royale. Now, additional information regarding this highly rumored mode has appeared online, furthering the speculation among fans.

The latest Battle Royale details comes from Tom Henderson, someone who has a track record of revealing new information on certain franchises in development such as Battlefield 2042 and the unannounced Call of Duty: Vanguard. His latest Halo Infinite details suggest that the Battle Royale mode will be heavily tied to the campaign, warning those who want to avoid spoilers to also avoid any sort of leaks related to Battle Royale. He theorizes that the connection could be there to help incentivize players to purchase the full game, rather than just play the free multiplayer.

While there's still a lot of uncertainty regarding the Battle Royale mode, including whether or not it'll be included in the free multiplayer component, Henderson implies that the mode has been in development for years. Even still, Henderson notes that he's not entirely sure about the state of the mode, indicating that it's possible that the mode may not make Halo: Infinite's release date or perhaps that it could be potentially scrapped entirely.

It's worth noting that a Battle Royale style mode for Halo Infinite hasn't been announced officially. In fact, 343 Industries has addressed Battle Royale rumors in the past, denying that such a mode is actually happening. However, rumors and potential leaks have continued to surface over the past year, leaving fans wondering if the studio is actually just trying to cover its tracks in order to surprise players with an official announcement sometime in the near feature.

Halo Infinite is set to launch in the Holiday season of 2021 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
