Set Photos Reveal First Look At Riri Williams In Black Panther 2

Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams was spotted on the set of the upcoming Black Panther sequel: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Riri Williams is a character originating from Marvel comics who takes over the Iron Man mantle as the hero Ironheart, which was due to her incredibly gifted intellect and engineering abilities.

In the comics, she is known for making her own suit of armor at MIT and she became recruited by Iron Man after stopping a group of criminals, which prompted her to become an Avenger. Due to the ending events of Avengers: Endgame, many are speculating as to how the origin of this character will be handled and what prompts her to create and don the power armor. In recent news, it seems that Black Panther 2 will be following the people of Wakanda, so many are thinking that Williams will be getting her suit from the engineers of Wakanda considering the nation is the world's leader in technology as well as the impenetrable material vibranium.

Photos from the set of Black Panther 2 reveal Thorne's Riri Williams walking around with a school backpack, so it can be assumed that she's leaving or going to class. Riri Williams was an MIT student before she became Ironheart, so there's a possibility that these set photos were taken during the scenes meant to establish the background of this character before fans get to see the character don the famous suit of armor.

Riri Williams is known for designing her own suit of armor, so don't expect it to be an exact copy of the armor worn by Tony Stark, which is a good thing. This will give fans a much-needed restart to the character, as many will see a unique set of armor that fits this role. Expect the different gadgets, designs, functionality, and personality that make this character stand on her own. With the Avengers almost all but gone, there's an empty space for new heroes to step into and Marvel seems to be ushering this in for the upcoming phase 4.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will have many of the original cast returning for the sequel as well as a few new faces. Riri Williams will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut and it was rumored that Namor will be making his first appearance in this film. Namor was considered a mutant in the Marvel comics storyline and if Disney decides to go that route, he will be one of the major long-awaited mutants making their debut in phase 4.

Marvel has already said that Fox's properties will be making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which includes the X-Men, Deadpool, and Fantastic Four. So here's hoping this happens sooner rather than later so the fans get what they have long been anticipating for so many years.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
