Atlus have revealed new screenshots of the upcoming JRPG Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, along with free Merciful difficulty DLC.

The news comes from Japanese outlet 4Gamer (translation: Google Translate), discussing new information about the game, and new screenshots.

The article begins explaining the game’s story, characters, and mechanics. As previously reported the story takes place while the protagonist is visiting a friend in a Tokyo hospital. He then witnesses “the Conception”- the destruction of the world.

Yet, they survive, now as the “Demi-fiend,” creating pacts with demons, spirits, and other beings to break the cycle of annihilation and rebirth.

Players explore dungeons while fighting off monsters- with both having access to the press turn system. When a character performs an attack with an element their foe is weak to, they gain another turn. Without careful planning, it is entirely possible to be wiped-out by foes; or for you to devastate foes.

The game will be based on Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition. It was originally only included as part of the limited edition of Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon. This also means instead of the cameo boss of Dante from Devil May Cry, it instead features Raidou Kuzunoha from Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army.

Finally, the game will have free DLC to add a Merciful difficulty, “the easiest and benevolent difficulty level that even a series inexperienced person can immerse themselves in the story with peace of mind.” This is in addition to the existing Normal and Hard difficulty.
