Skater XL has a new multiplayer update out today. Free Skate Mode, which is now available as free DLC, allows up to ten users to join an online skate session together.
Skater XL‘s Multiplayer Free Skate feature is coming to consoles and PC, according to Easy Day Studios. The online multiplayer free skate option, which is already available on Steam in Early Access, allows users to join a random public room or create their own and invite friends to join using a password.
To enhance the experience, the new online mode includes the same replay editor features available in single player, allowing users to store and alter group party lines, individual stunts, and memorable in-game occurrences.
Here’s what to expect
Skater XL launched last year to mostly favorable reviews with a steady stream of new maps, new gear, and the addition of community mods. However, the lack of multiplayer was a major stumbling block for many players. With the latest update for consoles and PC, that problem is a thing of the past. When adding extra players, the team was careful not to disrupt Skater XL‘s steady framerate, as you’ll need all the performance available when creating a combo line.
The update includes months of work on console performance enhancements, including improved frame rate and a noticeably smoother feel to gameplay, particularly on basic model troops. As a result, you have nothing to worry about; everything will be as smooth as a silk.
“Skateboarding is more fun with friends, and there’s nothing quite like hanging out, talking shop, and vibing off each other, that essential experience inspired us to create Skater XL’s online Multiplayer Free Skate mode,” said Jeff Goforth, director of marketing at Easy Day Studios.
“We’re excited to say this update comes with big FPS improvements. The game runs significantly smoother now and even with many characters on-screen during online play is significantly smoother even than the previous version in single-player mode,” he added.
