An intriguing pixel-art 2D top-down horror adventure is live on Kickstarter. Indie game developer Maniac Boy Studio is hoping to release Skeler Boy even on the NES!
Indie game developer Maniac Boy Studio has announced that their Kickstarter campaign to support the development of Skeler Boy on Steam, Android, Game Boy, and Nintendo Entertainment System.
Maniac Boy Studio is an indie video game studio created by four buddies who love movies and video games. Skeler Boy is their first Kickstarter project, and they are asking for funding to make it a reality.
Pixel-art horror
Skeler Boy is a pixel-art horror atmospheric game inspired by 1970s and 1980s films such as The Exorcist, The Shining, and Neverending Story.
To have an authentic 3D experience, the game may be played with old 3D glasses with red and green lenses that were popular in the 1990s.
Antonio Rodriguez, CEO at ManiacBoyStudio, says that Skeler Boy is “an intriguing 2D top-down adventure including conversations, objects, riddles, and other surprises.”
Different goals for different platform releases
Skeler Boy will be distributed on many platforms based on the achievement of the following stretch goals:
- €6,000 or $7,319: PC and Android
- €10,000 or $12,198: Game Boy
- €30,000 or $36,594: Nintendo Entertainment System
All versions for Game Boy and NES will include a cartridge and manual inside a themed box depending on the platform that will make it feel nostalgic.
