Sky: Children Of The Light – A Complete Guide To Spirits

Sky Children Of The Light Hidden Forest Spirit Eight Tearful Light Miner

Spirits are very important in Sky: Children Of The Light. To put it plainly, the Spirits are the reason you exist in the game and they are who you need to rescue throughout your journey across the Realms. They have been trapped for some time and, using your light, you set forth to free them all and return them to their light.

However, Spirits are more than just things that you need to save and they can offer you a lot of benefits throughout the game. The more you know about what Spirits are and exactly what they have to offer, the better your experience of the game will be. Even if you have already finished the story, there is still plenty to do revolving around them.

What Are Spirits?

Spirits are the native inhabitants of the worlds of Sky. They have been trapped by the darkness for some time with no way to escape. Spirits have been trapped in a statue-like form and are awaiting rescue. That's where you come in, it's your job to learn about the Realms and find all of the Spirits to free them in that area.

There are six Realms overall and there are multiple Spirits in each one.

How To Save Spirits

Some of them are much easier to find and rescue than others. To be able to rescue a Spirit, you need to find their starting point, which is a blue figure that is typically sat or knelt down. Then, when you are close to them, you can press Y to interact with them and this will start their memory sequence.

Memory sequences tell the story of that specific Spirit and who they were before they became trapped. You need to walk through each of the memories to get to the next one. Eventually, you will reach the trapped form of the Spirit and you can press Y to use your Light to free them.

In many of the Realms, you will need to have rescued a certain amount of Spirits from that Realm or another to be able to access the areas where some are hidden.

What Are Spirit Shops?

Spirit shops can only be accessed after you have saved that Spirit. Each one has its own unique store where you can go to and purchase a variety of items that they have on offer.

They have anything from action upgrades to cosmetics that you can use to personalize your character. They even have Spells that you can use throughout the game to help you out.

You can go to the Spirit shops either at the end of the Realm when you get to see the constellation showing you which ones you have saved, or, you can go to the shops when the Spirits appear in the social area between Realms.

They are definitely worth taking the time to look at as they're a good way to spend all of the Candles and Hearts that you have collected.

What Are Expressions?

Expressions are the first thing that a Spirit will reward you with once you have saved them. After you watch the small cinematic that puts their memories together, you will see the Spirit do an action, and then you can press Y to copy that action. This is called an expression.

Each Spirit will have its own expression to teach you and most of them will be physical movements or gestures that you can do. However, there are a few Spirits that will reward you with call sounds. These are different noises that you can make whilst pressing A to call out to other players or to Creatures Of Light.

To access your expressions, you simply need to press X and you will bring up a side menu. On here, you will see all of the expressions you are currently able to do and if you press R you will be taken to the page with your call noises.

To do an expression you need to tap on it and to equip a call noise, you have to tap on that too.

Temple Elders

Temple Elders are a type of Spirit that can be found at the end of each Realm. To be able to progress to the next, you need to kneel at an altar in the Temple of that Realm and awaken the slumbering Spirit. They look very different from the others but their stories are some of the most interesting — you can tell they were truly the leaders of that area.

Pay Attention To Their Stories

Each Spirit has its own unique story and this will be told through small cinematics shown once you have rescued them. Individually, they are powerful cinematics that show you how the darkness has changed their world and who they were before it happened.

However, when you watch them all and start to piece them together you will begin to see a much more profound message that will make the final Realm truly magical.
