Skyrim Fan Makes the Game’s Sweet Rolls in Real Life | Game Rant

Food plays an important part in a number of different video games, and Skyrim is a title known for having iconic foods such as the Sweet Roll. Recently, one fan decided to take their love for baking and Skyrim and combine them by making the legendary pastry found in the game.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as addicted-to-jet showed off some delicious Sweet Rolls. These weren't just any ordinary pastries, however. With thick frosting running down the curved rims of these humungous rolls, the baker specially designed them to look like the ones found in Skyrim. Besides baking the Sweet Rolls, the creator added a humorous note from the person that supposedly stole the pastries. It reads, "I swiped these as they were cooling on the rack in the kitchen of the Blue Palace. If any guards ask, you didn't get them from me." This note references one of the lines of dialogue for the guards found in Skyrim.

The history of the Sweet Roll is a tale that runs through numerous games and franchises. Starting in Elder Scrolls: Arena as one of a group of questions asked to determine a player's starting class, the legendary pastry has gone on to be mentioned in numerous other games in the series such as Oblivion and Skyrim. It is even a consumable that players can craft with honey, flour, and other grains in the Elder Scrolls: Online. Beyond the mystical realms of Elder Scrolls, references to Sweet Rolls are found in the Fallout series as well.

Even though Skyrim released nearly 10 years ago, players continue to discover new things about the game. With a revolutionary open-world design for 2011, players have been finding new ways to express their fandom for the plentiful creatures and characters in the RPG. While numerous fans make cosplays of Skyrim characters and experiment with new mods to keep the game interesting and fresh, it's exciting to see players such as addicted-to-jet show their love for the game in other ways like baking.

The Elder Scrolls community on Reddit has been savoring the succulent pastries ever since addicted-to-jet posted them. With over 1,200 upvotes, many fans are wondering how the creator made the desert. Some have commented that the recipe appears to use bunt cake and glaze icing. Regardless of the contents of the recipe, fans seem to agree that the baker's Sweet Rolls are one of the best attempts at replicating the pastry.

It will be interesting to see if the legacy of the Sweet Roll continues in the future. While Bethesda's upcoming game Starfield takes place in futuristic galaxy far different from the one found in the Elder Scrolls series, there's a good possibility that the developers will find a way to fit the famous pastry into the game.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
