Though there's plenty to delve into during the main campaign of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, this airborne journey offers a number of side quests and activities to partake in as well. These tasks, often available at the request of various NPCs, can be fun diversions — though they can also help Link bolster his strength and abilities.

One of these quests, tagged Hot Pumpkin Soup Delivery, proves deceptively useful, even if it seems negligible and lacking a real reward at first. The quest has Link take on the role of a speedy delivery boy, though it also kicks off a few other tasks which can be beneficial for the hero down the line. With that said, here is a step-by-step on where and how to initiate this quest and how to complete it.
Where To Find The Quest And How To Trigger It
-
First, head towards The pumpkin-shaped bar fittingly called "The Lumpy Pumpkin," located on Pumpkin Landing at the southeast region of the map. This is the bar that is famous for — what else? — the Pumpkin Soup that you'll be getting.
- This quest will be available once you've obtained your Loftwing.
- The building is the only one on the island, so it should be easy to spot.
- Once inside, head towards the 2nd floor and reach the railing of the balcony. You may notice a sign on one of the pillars that reads "No roughhousing on the balcony! Big ruckuses cause the chandelier to shake."
- Take this as your cue to do the exact opposite and start rolling or dashing into the side.
- The chandelier across the way will begin swinging. After a few hits, a cutscene will trigger, in which the chandelier breaks off, startling the guests below. Along with setting the stage for the Pumpkin Soup Delivery side quest, this will also yield a Heart Piece and a few Rupees.
-
Go back downstairs and speak with the furious Pumm to start working for him and get the soup. Be sure to have an empty bottle at hand.
- Luv will provide one at her Potion Shop in the Skyloft Bazaar assuming you're without one.
- Be sure not to consume the soup while in the process of completing the quest. If you do, another can be purchased for 10 Rupees.

More On Pumpkin Soup
- This delectable soup is a recovery item that will restore Hearts.
- It will require an empty bottle.
- It must be consumed within five minutes after obtaining it, or its healing capabilities will diminish.
Completing The Quest
-
Back to the quest itself: Take the soup and deliver it to Knight Commander Eagus. He can be found in the Sparring Hall next to the Knight Academy.
- As mentioned, the soup cools down and loses most of its effectiveness within five minutes, so it must be delivered to the knight before then. If you run out of time, the quest can be initiated again.
- Assuming the soup is still hot, the knight will bask in the "earthly aroma" and take it from you upon request.
-
Return to Pumm and speak with him once this delivery has been made. As he's quite grumpy about the broken chandelier, no rewards will be given to Link. However, the completion of this quest is needed to trigger the Pumpkin Carrying and Harp Jam side quests, which also require the Earth Temple to be cleared.
- This eventually does pay off, as completion of all three of these tasks will grant a Piece of Heart and the ability to play the Harp Jam minigame
