Sonic And Tails Race Against Metal Sonic To Free The Wisps In Part Two Of Sonic Colors: Rise Of The Wisps

Sega has dropped the second and last episode of Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps, which finds Sonic and Tails racing against time to once again stop Dr Eggman's plans to take over the universe.

The final episode of the web series, directed once again by renowned Sonic animator Tyson Hesse, comes as Sonic Colors: Ultimate is set to be released within the next two weeks.

At the beginning of the episode, which you can see below, Orbot and Cubot finish installing the last of the Wisp energy-draining capsules on Sweet Mountain when Sonic swoops in, snatches the flash drive to give to Tails, and begins wrestling Metal over the Wisps' freedom. Sonic throws Metal at the capsule and frees the first group of Wisps in process before taking off to save the others.

In the last stretch of the rescue mission, Metal charges after Sonic and nearly mauls him until Jade transforms him into a ghost Danny Phantom-style and manages to break the last group of Wisps out of the capsules. Despite Tails warning Sonic not to waste time with his sassy flights of fancy, the last capsule sent the energy levels of those Wisps to hell, rendering them into purple demon-like Wisps.

As Metal fires himself up to defeat Sonic in his moment of despair, Jade makes a last-ditch to stand up to him by turning him invisible and popping the energy capsule out of his body, which brought the Wisps back to life and their original forms, allowing them to aid Sonic in beating the robot brothers for their cruelty towards the creatures and rescue all the other Wisps on Sweet Mountain and beyond.

The delightful Sonic Colors web shorts not only established a pattern of creating new animated shorts ahead of the release of new Sonic games, starting with Sonic Mania Plus, but for the first time, they also managed to incorporate voice-acting for all the characters (except Eggman for some reason).
