Sony IMX8xx Sensor is on Road
After releasing many successful smartphone camera sensors, Sony is now expected to be working on a new Sony IMX8xx series camera sensor for upcoming flagship phones.
According to the reports, this new Sony IMX8xx sensor is a 50-megapixel ultra-large bottom sensor, with a bigger presence than 1/1.28-inches.
As for the equipped device, the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra flagship phone could be equipped with this new Sony image sensor and could drop the Samsung sensor found on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra.
According to the known information, Xiaomi 12 Ultra, codenamed L1, will use Sony’s IMX8xx main camera with a large Oreo-shaped camera layout that includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48 megapixel 5x telephoto camera, and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
Besides the Xiaomi, Digital Chat Station claims that Vivo is also working on the IMX8xx sensor, which may be the upcoming Vivo X80 Series, or could Vivo X Note or X Fold. And Vivo and Zeiss collaboration will not be absent.
