Space Invaders Invincible Collection came out in Japan last year, and since then it's been eagerly awaiting a Western release. That day has finally arrived as eleven classic titles invade in a singular collection from INI Games and TAITO.
The Invincible Collection begins with the 1978 arcade game that started it all. The original Space Invaders is included in both black & white and full-color versions, along with the 1979 sequel, Space Invaders Part II (which only came in color).
Lunar Rescue changes the classic Space Invaders formula by first having the player land a rescue craft on the moon to pick up a stranded astronaut who then has to fight their way past a horde of alien space invaders to get back to the safety of the mothership. Space Cyclone changes the format once again by having the alien invaders descend on the surface while hiding behind several slow-moving asteroids.
Majestic Twelve: The Space Invaders Part IV and Super Space Invaders '91 are mostly the same game, with the former being the Japanese release and the latter being its Western name. Both games came with two-player mode and were released on the Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System.

Space Invaders DX remade the original on Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and the SNES with two-player options as well as your choice of arcade cabinet sides. Space Invaders Extreme came out on the PSP and Nintendo DS in 2008 as a complete reimagining of the franchise and offered some pretty wild UI elements, music, power-ups, and more.
Finally, Space Invaders Gigamax 4 SE was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2018 as a four-player version of the arcade classic, although there were plenty of Space Invaders Extreme elements in there too.
You can get the Space Invaders Invincible Collection now on the Nintendo Switch eShop along with a free Arkanoid vs Space Invaders download on mobile.
And if you're such a huge Space Invaders fan that you absolutely must have the Collection in physical form, ININ and TAITO are planning several limited-edition physical releases just for you courtesy of Strictly Limited Games. Pre-orders go live on August 28 with options that include a numbered jewel case, acrylic art cards, a commemorative coin, and the Space Invaders Invincible board game.
