Splitgate Still Launching July 27

Despite some massive server issues thanks to a huge surge in popularity, 1047 Games is still committed to launching Splitgate on July 27.

Announced in a Twitter video, 1047 Games' Kevin talks about the current server situation and how the team of around 4 engineers is looking into the current situation to try and get the game running smoothly.

In the video, Kevin says, "Everyday I work closely with our CEO, Ian, and the four programmers that developed the game. If you were to ask any one of us two weeks ago that Splitgate would be pushing 65,000 concurrent players, no one would have believed you. And yet, here we are, completely blown away and humbled by the overwhelming positive reaction."

Kevin continued to say that the team is focusing on strengthening the systems. He said, "Because of the massive growth, our servers have struggled to keep up. In response, we have dedicated all of our resources towards enhancing and fortifying the backend of Splitgate." Later in the video, he says, "We have heard your suggestions on hiring more engineers to help out with our server problems, and that is exactly what we intend to do."

There have been some concerns that Splitgate's launch would be pushed back due to these server issues and the game's sudden popularity, but Kevin reassures players that isn't the case. In the video, Kevin says, "Our plans to launch on July 27 has not changed. Our number one goal is to ensure the smoothest experience possible on launch. Our engineers are working as hard as they can to do right by you, our community, who have shown an unprecedented level of patience".

Splitgate has seen a massive increase in player numbers during its open beta, almost to the point of detriment, as many players reported that they couldn't get into games, and the beta eventually had to be taken offline for a while.
