Square Enix Plans on Making Announcements at E3 2021

After a year off (due to unfortunate but understandable reasons) in 2020, E3 is coming back as a digital event this year in June. The likes of Microsoft, Nintendo, Take-Two, Ubisoft, Capcom, Warner Bros, and more have been confirmed to be part of the event, but a few big names have been missing from that list so far. One of those, of course, is Square Enix, but even though it doesn’t seem right now like the company will have its own conference, they’re still going to have things to announce.

In a recent interview with Nikkei Cross Trend, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda said that Square Enix is planning to announce upcoming projects at E3 this June. He did not go into detail about what those announcements might be, of course, but we can, at the very least, be assured that there’s more stuff in Square Enix’s pipeline that’s going to be unveiled soon.

It’s been a while since we last heard anything about Final Fantasy 16, and the game’s supposed to receive updates this year, so it’s possible that we hear more about that at E3. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s PlayStation exclusivity period is over, so perhaps the game could get announced for Xbox and PC in June as well. At this point, we can do little more than speculate, but we’ll keep an eye out for any and all updates, so stay tuned.
