Stalker 2 delayed until December for ‘testing and polishing’

Another big name video game has suffered a major delay, as first person shooter Stalker 2 is pushed back a whole seven months.

We warned that video game delays are going to be just as common this year as they were last and, unfortunately, we were correct, as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl is delayed by seven months, from April 28 all the way to December 8.

As you can probably already guess, the only explanation is that the game needs more ‘testing and polishing’, which has been the default explanation for most delays during the pandemic.

Developer GSC Game World seem to have the right attitude though, insisting that ‘development should take as long as necessary, especially in the case of such a project’ – which they describe as the biggest in their history.

The news is not much of a surprise, as relatively little of the game has been seen in public, especially for something that was supposed to be out in April.

The last time it was in the news though was over GSC Game World’s attempts to add NFTs to the game, something fans were so upset about the plans were overturned within 24 hours.

Battlefield 2042 is being played less than Battlefield 5 and 1 on Steam

A first person shooter with elements of survival horror, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (we do wish they wouldn’t spell it like that) is the first entry in the series since Call Of Pripyat in 2009.

The sequel is a timed Xbox Series X/S exclusive and is currently the only next gen exclusive of any kind scheduled for this year, since all of Sony’s titles are cross-gen.

Although given that delay it will now only barely make it out in time for the end of 2022…
