Star Wars Is Absent From This Year’s EA Play

EA Play Live will take place later this month on July 22, but it'll a few of EA's notable series have already been marked as absent. Star Wars now joins that growing list, but noted that perhaps the series may pop up next year.

As EA's sort of "E3 season" event, EA Play Live typically shows off what the publisher is cooking up for the next year. We've seen announcements made for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and the publisher's massive sports library make their debuts there, but things may look a little thin this year. Bioware has already confirmed it won't be in attendance, so you can go ahead and count Mass Effect and Dragon Age out.

Perhaps your dreams are (temporarily) crushed for another Fallen Order game in the near future, but EA may still have other surprises to show off next week. In the last couple of months, rumors have begun to circulate that EA may be working to revive an old, established IP and all signs seem to point to Dead Space. Earlier this month, that rumor turned into sources reporting that Dead Space 4 is on the horizon and that Motive would develop the project.

As for things that are confirmed, you can count on FIFA 22 being there, along with Battlefield. FIFA 22 just launched its first official trailer, showing off its new Hypermotion technology. Battlefield 2042 is also making the rounds, and EA just recently confirmed a couple of new features, like the addition of fan-favorite maps from older games and a cross-play/cross-progression system.

If you're counting on seeing one of your favorites show up, we've got you covered on the rest of the details. You can check out our where to watch it guide for this year's EA Play Live, detailing the more important bits on how to tune into the show.
