Stardew Valley: Every Universally-Liked Item

Stardew Valley Vegetables

Quick Links

In Stardew Valley, it can be hard to remember the gift preferences of around two dozen people. Luckily, there are some gifts that are almost universally liked, making them a safe bet to give to most people. Giving a liked gift will grant you 45 friendship points with the person who receives it.

Sure, there are Universal Loves as well, but there is only a handful of them and they're pretty valuable and rare. So, consider the Univeral Likes instead. They're plentiful and most of them are pretty easy to obtain. Giving someone two liked gifts can be way quicker and easier, and it'll actually give you more friendship points, too. Loved gifts grant +80 points, while two liked gifts will net you +90 points.

Here are all of the Universal Likes, and the exceptions.

Vegetables

It'll probably be pretty easy to get your hands on most Vegetables, considering you run your own farm. Almost everything the game classifies as a Vegetable is liked by most of the giftable characters. There are a few veggies that aren't universally-liked, though: Hops, Tea Leaves, Wheat, and Unmilled Rice are not part of this list. The first three are Universal Neutrals, while Unmilled Rice is universally-disliked.

Here are all of the universally-liked Vegetables:

  • Amaranth
  • Artichoke
  • Beet

Exceptions

There are, of course, exceptions. Almost no gift in Stardew Valley is completely universal. Here are the people who have different feelings about some or all of the game's veggies.

Fruit Tree Fruits

Fruit Tree Fruits are their own category of Fruit, which is a separate category in the game. Just "Fruit" is the crops you can grow, for the most part, while "Fruit Tree Fruits" are those that grow on the trees you can plant. Bananas and Mangoes are part of this category, but they actually follow the Fruit preferences of each villager, rather than Fruit Tree Fruits.

Here are which fruits are included as part of this classification, as far as Universal Likes are concerned:

  • Apple
  • Apricot
  • Cherry
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Pomegranate

Exceptions

There are only a few exceptions to Fruit Tree Fruits as universally-liked gifts:

Flowers

The "Flowers" category includes both foraged flowers and the ones you can grow as crops on your farm. Poppies are hated by most people, but the rest of the flowers are Universal Likes.

Flowers that are universally-liked include:

  • Blue Jazz
  • Crocus
  • Fairy Rose
  • Summer Spangle
  • Sunflower
  • Sweat Pea
  • Tulip

Exceptions

Not everyone likes receiving Flowers, though. There are a few stalwarts who aren't fans, and some people who have adoring opinions of one or two varieties. Here are the exceptions:

Artisan Goods

Artisan Goods are typically anything that you process in a machine from an animal product or crop. There are some things on this list that you might not expect! Before we list the universally-liked Artisan Goods, it should be noted that Void Mayonnaise is almost universally-hated, and Oil is typically disliked.

Much like real life outside of Stardew Valley, people have very different preferences on Cooked Dishes. With such a long list of them in-game, too, there is a long list of exceptions. Every single character, save for the Dwarf and the Wizard, has a deviating opinion at least one dish. Here are all of the exceptions:

Gems and Foraged Minerals

After all those Cooked Dishes and their exceptions, let's talk about a more simple category. Gems and (some) Minerals! The Minerals you find in Geodes are not Universal Likes, but three of the four Foraged Minerals are: Fire Quartz, Earth Crystals, and Frozen Tears. Regular old Quartz varies by villager.

Additionally, though they are Gems, Prismatic Shards are a Universal Love, not a Universal Like.

Here are the Gems and Foraged Minerals that are universally-liked:

Foraged Minerals:
  • Earth Crystal
  • Fire Quartz
  • Frozen Tear
Gems:
  • Amethyst
  • Aquamarine
  • Diamond

  • Topaz

Exceptions

Of course, we can't escape exceptions to this list of items. Here are all of them:

Other Items

There are two items that don't fit neatly into the above categories but are almost universally-liked: Life Elixir and Maple Syrup. Life Elixir is basically a Cooked Dish, but it's technically crafted from Mushrooms instead of cooked (or purchased from the Dwarf), whereas Maple Syrup is kind of an Artisan Good, but is technically a Sap.

The universally-liked miscellaneous items:

  • Life Elixir
  • Maple Syrup

Exceptions

Even with just those two simple items, the fine people of Stardew Valley have to be difficult. Here are the exceptions to liking Life Elixir and Maple Syrup:
