Stardew Valley is one of the best farming sims on the market, and there are very few games that can live up to its fame. One of the many reasons why Stardew has been so successful is due to its colorful cast of NPCs. Pelican Town is filled with a variety of citizens, each complete with their own unique design and personality. One Stardew fan, in particular, has created a cosplay based on one of her favorite characters; a perfect recreation of Penny.
Though Penny may not be the most popular marriage option in Stardew Valley, she remains a fan-favorite for much of the community. She loves plants, animals, and goes out of her way to tutor the children in Pelican Town. Given her passionate personality, it's no surprise that Penny is quite popular with fans, and this cosplayer went out of her way to express these same characteristics in her finished design.

The cosplay is courtesy of Reddit user cute-berry, who created her Stardew Valley costume in just a few short hours while at home. Her inspiration for the design came while experiencing “self-isolation boredom” due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Considering the limited materials and tools available, it’s incredible how accurate the cosplay turned out. Her hair has been styled to match the icon bun, and her make-up features a soft blush to match the character model. The artist even posed with a book to reflect Penny’s favorite hobby.
I was so bored isolating with covid that I decided to finally do a Penny cosplay!! from
StardewValley
People seem to adore this Penny cosplay, with nearly 2,000 upvotes on Reddit so far. Though some parts of the community are split on the design, considering the use of make-up to be a bit out of character, the majority of fans are in agreement that the overall cosplay is beautiful, and the dress is exactly something that Penny would wear. Artists are always taking creative liberties with their Stardew Valley fan-art, and cosplay is no different. But these unique variations help to keep things interesting, especially for games that are wildly popular, such as Stardew.
Best of all, Stardew Valley's popularity continues to expand. In light of the game’s popularity, the sole creator of Stardew, ConcernedApem even created the first-ever competitive Stardew Valley tournament. The winner will receive a $40,000 prize by completing various in-game challenges, such as mining and fishing events. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming tournament affects Stardew’s popularity, and whether it inspires even more creative cosplays such as this.
