Streets Of Rage 4’s ‘Mr. X Nightmare’ DLC Pack Launches On July 15

Dotemu announced this morning that the hotly anticipated Streets of Rage 4 DLC pack, "Mr. X Nightmare," will be hitting digital storefronts on July 15, 2021. Going for $7.99, the extra content will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on the same day. As a nice bonus, the Game Pass version of Streets of Rage 4 will also be receiving the DLC, meaning subscribers won't even have to shell out extra to give it a whirl.

Along with three new characters, this DLC comes with a brand new difficulty mode, a training mode with tutorials, extra color palettes for each character, and a round of balance updates to the game. There's bound to be some hidden extras in there, though new characters are more than enough to get me playing the game an extra 16 times.

If you're not a fan of digital storefronts, a physical "complete" edition will be heading to both PS4 and Switch in the near future. Made in partnership with Merge Games, an anniversary edition of the game will house the base title and its DLC on a disc or cartridge for your enjoyment. It's nice that you won't be required to download anything extra, a trend that you'd think would be common by now.

If you've yet to play Streets of Rage 4, I'd probably recommend waiting for this DLC to release. The title was my personal game of the year for 2020 and getting some extra content sounds like a real treat. If you're a fan of old-school beat-em-ups or coin-op titles, you definitely shouldn't miss out on this.
