Super Mario Maker 1 is Getting Delisted, Online Services Discontinued

Nintendo has announced they’re delisting and discontinuing the original Super Mario Maker.

The game will be delisted from the Nintendo eShop on January 12th, 2021, making it unavailable on both the Wii U and the 3DS. Following this, its online component will be discontinued on March 31st, 2021, meaning you’ll no longer be able to upload courses you’ve made.

It’s worth noting the 3DS version is more of an offline experience, and didn’t include the option to share courses online – you were only able to share courses you made via the 3DS’ built in StreetPass functionality, which let you communicate with users near you, physically.

Nintendo also noted the discontinuation of Super Mario Maker will not affect Super Mario Maker 2 in any way, as that game is available for the Nintendo Switch and is still being supported.
