Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Leaked by Australian Classification Board

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania has leaked ahead of its official announcement, via the Australian classification board.

The listing on the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications classification board website has since been removed, but can be found archived here.

Classified April 15th, the game will be a multi-platform release, with its year of production being 2021. The game will be getting a PG rating in Australia, due to “Mild violence” and online interactivity. Past games have had cartoon violence, such as boxing gloves punching the monkeys, or their enemies. We will keep you informed as we learn more.

The series began as an arcade game in 2001, before coming to GameCube as Super Monkey Ball in the same year. The series has had nearly 20 entries (including ports), with the last title being 2019’s Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD (itself a port of the 2006 Wii game).

Across nigh-all games, players must tilt the entire level, making their monkey-filled ball roll around the stage. Players collect bananas as they aim for each level’s goal, all while avoiding falling off precarious ledges and platforms.

While the classification has the author listed as Sega (the same as the publisher), this may not mean they are developing the game. While Sega have developed the games themselves in the past, the most recent game was developed by Yakuza developers Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.

Previously, the Australian Classification board leaked Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy.
