Switch Players Aren’t Able To Buy Mr X. Nightmare For Streets Of Rage 4, But Dotemu Is Working On It

Mr. X Nightmare just came out for Streets of Rage 4 bringing Max, Shiva, and Estel as playable characters along with new retro stages and a new Survival mode. Peter gave it a whirl, and while he enjoyed the new content, he didn't like the fact you had to grind out Survival mode just to unlock the new special moves added in the DLC.

But if you're on the Nintendo Switch, you can't even grind out survival at all because Mr. X Nightmare is just totally unavailable. It's supposed to be, but right now you can't find Mr. X Nightmare on the eShop.

Apparently, that's a bug. Developer Dotemu was made aware of the issue last night and apologized for the mixup. Those with game codes and media codes can still play Mr. X Nightmare, but everyone else will have to wait for the issue to be fixed before being able to download it.

Thankfully, it looks like Streets of Rage fans won't have to wait too long. Dotemu said today that a fix is in the works and is currently being pushed through Nintendo's validation process.

"We are still working hard to fix the tech issue affecting Switch players for #SOR4 DLC,” wrote Dotemu. “We believe that it should be fixed in the following days as we need to restart the validation process to get the fix live."

FOR SWITCH PLAYERS?
We are still working hard to fix the tech issue affecting Switch players for #SOR4 DLC. We believe that it should be fixed in the following days as we need to restart the validation process to get the fix live.

As with all consoles, updates need to be validated by the platform before they can roll out. This can take a few days, so patience is very much a virtue here.

Dotemu also mentioned some issues for PS4 owners that purchased the DLC but couldn’t play it. According to Dotemu, that issue is caused by players purchasing Mr. X Nightmare in a region or store outside of the one they purchased the main game. It recommends refunding the expansion and then repurchasing it in the same region as the original Streets of Rage 4.
