Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for December 20th, 2021. It’s really quiet today, friends. Perhaps that is to be expected, given the proximity to the holiday. We’ve got a little news to look at today, and just one new release to check out. No reviews, though I am working on one for tomorrow’s article. I’ll tell you what we do have, though: a metric ton of new sales. Tis the season for discounts, and it feels like just about everything will be on sale in time for Christmas morning. Well, let’s wade on in.

A New Mystery Gift is Available in ‘Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl’
I don’t always report on these, but it’s pretty quiet today and it’s kind of a Christmas thing, so why not? There’s a new Mystery Gift being distributed in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl right now, and it will be available until Christmas Day. You’ll get a pack of statues for your Underground Base, including Lucario, Electivire, Rhyperior, Pachirisu, and Glaceon. To claim them, just fire up your game and open the Mystery Gift option on the menu. Choose “Get with Code/Password” and enter the code ‘MERRYCHR1STMAS’. You’ll need to be connected to the internet, of course. Don’t forget to save your game after you receive the goodies.
New Releases
Carebotz ($18.99)
You take the role of a little repair robot with Asteroids-style thrust controls in this action game. The levels are big and have a fair bit of space to explore for those who want to venture off the beaten path, but I think the game’s description is stretching it a little by saying it has Metroidvania elements. There are lots of secrets to find but it’s a rather linear affair in general. It also gets rather tough in its back half. Something to be aware of if you’re thinking of attending this party. You’re going to need to be quite good with the thrusting gameplay as things get trickier. Not bad.

Yeah, that’s a real big list. The less-than-great GTA Trilogy is having its first sale. It’s been updated and will be updated more, but I don’t know how good I’d feel about recommending it even at 20% off. Let me look through and see what jumps out at me personally. Missile Dancer, 9th Dawn III, Cruis’n Blast, Pankapu, Touhou Luna Nights, Jenny LeClue – Detectivu, Pumpkin Jack, and Rigid Force Redux are all games I enjoyed a lot. Comb through that list yourself, though. And while there’s nothing in the outbox that I’m too excited about, you should probably have a look at that one too.
