More Storage At Last
Micron Technology has confirmed that the Crucial P5 Plus NVMe SSD is compatible with the PlayStation 5. the Crucial P5 Plus NVMe SSD has reads up to 6,600MB/s, and it is available now to get some instant storage upgrade for your PlayStation 5.
The Crucial P5 Plus comes in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB sizes to give you plenty of options. The P5 Plus 1TB costs $179.99 / £157.19, while the 2TB model costs $367.99 / £320.39. Those prices aren’t bad at all for a good SSD, but there is a downside here. By Sony’s recommendation, you will have to add an aftermarket heatsink.
As someone who games on a PC and PlayStation 5, I promise you that adding a heatsink isn’t difficult. It might be mildly annoying, but it is completely doable.
The Crucial P5 Plus also works with PC if that is more up your alley. It has been tested with Intel’s 11th Generation Intel Core processors and AMD’s Ryzen 3000 PCIe 4.0 motherboards. The SSD is also backward compatible with most PCIe Gen3 systems that support the M.2 SSD form factor, though it will be limited to Gen3 speeds.
I hope the beta update for the PlayStation 5 quickly rolls out to everyone. I’m someone who pretty much exclusively plays digital games, I know you can hate me all you want, so my storage space is pretty much always filled. I need a 2TB SSD, so I don’t have to delete a game every single time I want to download something.
Yeah, I should have fewer games going at any given time, but that will never happen. I will die before I even think about deleting Persona 5 Royal. I’ll play it eventually.
