The Expendables 4 Adds Megan Fox Alongside Sylvester Stallone

Megan Fox has been recruited into the upcoming sequel The Expendables 4, the latest installment inthe action-adventure franchise that pays homage to the films/heroes of the late '80s and early '90s. The Lionsgate film also features prominent action stars of that era such as Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Jason Statham, and Sylvester Stallone, to name a few.

Fox was announced as one of the characters to be joining the ensemble team of the upcoming Lionsgate film. While Fox may not be an actor from the era of the late '80s, she is no stranger to action films. She's been getting a lot more diverse roles in recent years, including the recent Rogue film, which has her as the gun-totting lead. Fox was also in a recent thriller film titled Till Death.

It's clear Fox has been preparing for a role such as this and seems more than ready to cement herself in the legacy of the Expendables film franchise. She also recently talked about her dream video game role, which requires heavy action in order to take on that character. In addition to Fox, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that 50 Cent and Tony Jaa will be joining the cast as well. Fans should expect more actors to be announced in the coming weeks. The newcomers join a list of returning Expendables stars that includes Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Stallone

Expendables started all the way back in 2010 and it spawned 2 sequels since then. There's no telling if this will be the last film in the iconic franchise but it will be a welcome change to the current action film landscape. With Fast and Furious coming to an end soon, there will be an open void for a franchise to take its spot as the main over-the-top action film series in Hollywood.

As far as announcements go, don't expect anything to be heavily promoted until the film is closer to production or release. The Expendables 4 has been kept under wraps for the most part and people haven't been as vocal regarding this series in recent years. Despite all of that, there's still more than enough space for this film to thrive.

It has a difficult task in terms of picking its audience. On one hand, it's marketing to fans of the '80s and '90s films but it also needs to draw in newer viewers, which is why it has actors such as Statham in it, who is able to get both older and newer moviegoers into seats. It's a possible task but difficult nonetheless.

The Expendables 4 will begin production in October.
