The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel Still Set for 2022

Some Reassurance Comes Due to Not Seeing It During the Game Awards

The Breath of the Wild sequel has been a highly anticipated game for the past few years. That’s no surprise; the original game, Breath of the Wild, was a beautifully rendered open-world game that blew a lot of people’s socks off. We’ve heard too that the sequel is to be released by Nintendo in 2022. But, with the lack of a new trailer or even news of the game, fans were made nervous about delays.

Breath of The Wild 2

Thankfully, this is not the case. According to IGN’s Nintendo Voice Chat podcast, the IG co-founder Peer Schneider, that there’s no need to worry. Schneider had recently spoken to Nintendo employees, and what’s happening in the upcoming year. There wasn’t much in the way of news, but apparently, it’s going to be a very exciting year for Nintendo. Schneider had this to say on the Breath of the Wild sequel:

It does sound like Nintendo is going to have a pretty good year next year. So, I would not take the absence of big stuff [at The Game Awards] as a sign that maybe Breath of the Wild is delayed or that they don’t have other stuff, because it sounds like… people at Nintendo are very excited about 2022.”

Schneider also indicated that November 2022 could be “when we’re playing Breath of the Wild 2.” But this bit of information could be taken with a grain of salt. There might be all sorts of shuffling in the meantime, whether forward or backward when it comes to the Breath of the Wild 2’s release date.

At least we know that the Legend of Zelda title is not being ignored. For now, we can safely say that within the next twelve months we may be enjoying the highly anticipated game on Nintendo Switch.
