The Witcher 3 Edit Turns Geralt Into Arthur Morgan From Red Dead Redemption 2

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Red Dead Redemption 2 are hugely different games, with one big thing that separates the two being their settings. However, one creative fan has decided to throw Geralt of Rivia into the Wild West, showing the protagonist of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as a cowboy.

This transition if fitting given the fact that a Red Dead Online player created Geralt recently. For some reason, players seem eager to see the sword wielding Witcher with a revolver, taking on the likes of the O’Driscolls as opposed to Drowners, Leshens, and other monsters. As such, while the crossover is strange and unexpected, it is not entirely new. This time around, though, a fan named GarbageKan992 is bringing Red Dead Redemption 2 content over to CD Projekt Red’s Witcher universe.

The edit sees the player working with Geralt of Rivia’s character model from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. As such, he sports the same face that he has in the 2015 game, with a large scar over his eye, a short beard, and some long hair. This is about all that remains the same about Geralt of Rivia, however, as every other aspect of his appearance comes straight from Arthur Morgan. From head to toe, Ciri’s beloved father figure can be seen in the clothes that were worn by the Van Der Linde gang member.

While the edit is funny, as seeing Geralt outside of Witcher School armor is a bit strange, it becomes a lot more fitting upon closer inspection. With the hat on top of his head, the hair and scar make Geralt look like a reputable outlaw. While it may not be his usual style, Arthur’s blue shirt and brown jacket do work, while the belt also looks solid. Geralt trades his silver and steel swords for a revolver, as it can be seen in the holster on his waist, ensuring that every aspect of the edit is accurate.

The artist also changes the sky to a bright orange, something that was likely done to keep the focus on Geralt or obscure any fantasy-themed buildings. The Witcher’s trusty horse Roach also appears, and given Arthur’s closeness to his horse in the second Red Dead Redemption game, this is one trait that the two characters have in common. The comments approved of the redesign, with some fans referring to the creation as “Arthalt.” With “Dutchefer” also suggested, it seems like far more people than just GarbageKan992 are having some fun with this crossover.

With both The Witcher 4 and Red Dead Redemption 3 likely several years away, fans will have plenty of time to come up with edits like these. For anyone that was wondering how Geralt would look in a different time period, the fan’s work provides a clear answer.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
