There Might Be No Nintendo Switch Pro at All, Says Analyst

A Senior Industry Analyst Is Convinced There Will Be No Nintendo Switch Pro

Nintendo might not release a Switch Pro model at all. At least, so says a Senior Industry Analyst. Piers Harding-Rolls from Ampere Analysis shared his predictions for 2022. Unfortunately, it looks like he does not see the aforementioned console in the cards.

I am not expecting a Switch Pro in 2022,” Harding-Rolls said. “I am not convinced a Pro model is going to appear at all.”

Apparently, he believes that a next-gen Nintendo console is coming in late 2024. He expects this new device to be the a next-generation gaming console, and not just an upgraded version of the Switch. His reports are contrary to recent claims that Nintendo is planning on releasing another upgraded Switch device.

I am currently expecting the console market year-on-year performance to be quite flat in 2022 as Switch sales decline,” he added. “We come off what has been an amazing couple of years for console gaming.”

Still, many Nintendo users are still clamoring for a Switch Pro release. With that said, speculations that the company is quietly making the device behind closed doors keep resurfacing every now and then.

However, it is worth noting that Nintendo themselves announced last year that they have “no plans” of making Nintendo Switch Pro. “We just announced that Nintendo Switch OLED model will launch in October 2021,” they said. “Have no plans for launching any other model at this time.”

Just last year, Nintendo released their new Switch OLED device. It has a big seven-inch OLED screen. It also comes with smaller additions, such as enhanced audio, a new dock, as well as a wide adjustable band.

Nintendo Switch family of devices will, once again, be the best-selling consoles in 2022 at around 21 million sold to consumers,” Harding-Rolls continued. “Aided by the release of Switch OLED.”

Despite these numbers, however, many gamers complained that there were some features missing from the device. The company had previously confirmed that it will feature increased hardware power and 4K resolution support. According to multiple Nintendo Switch players, they could see no sign of either.
