This Week In Pokemon Unites: Tier Lists, Trolling, And More

We’re less than a month away until Pokemon Unite comes to mobile phones, likely dramatically increasing the playerbase. However, as this week has shown, there might be a few things that developer TiMi has to iron out first before taking on any more fans.

Here are all the big stories from Pokemon Unite this week.

Players Call For A Troll Ban Wave

Kicking off the Pokemon Unite news this week, we have fans begging for a ban wave – or at least a better report system. Right now, the only thing that’ll land you in hot water is idling or leaving the match early. However, players are sharing more and more videos of trolls getting inventive with their methods or irritating others, such as stalking them around the map to steal kills, preventing them from ever levelling up. Because of this, fans are asking the developers for an improved report feature.

TheGamer’s Cian Maher agrees with this, as he wrote a feature earlier this week calling for a League of Legends ban system.

Blastoise Finally Has A Release Date

Blastoise was announced for the game before it even launched, but we never knew when it would actually join its fellow gen one starters. Finally, we have a date for it: September 1. The water type joins the roster this Wednesday, making it the third new addition to the MOBA since the launch in July. We don’t know anything specific about its moveset, but the short clip shared to the game’s social media suggests Blastoise will focus on driving enemies away from goals.

Wiggytuff Is Top Tier In The Latest Update

The tier list could be shaken up when Blastoise joins the gang this Wednesday, but for now, Wigglytuff reigns supreme. That’s right, this support class ‘mon is apparently better than Ninetails, Lucario, Pikachu… the whole lot of them. Joining the pick blob in S tier is Lucario and Greninja, with Crustle, Absol, Gardevoir all the way at the bottom in D tier. Even Gengar, who was originally a fan favourite pick, has fallen down to the bottom tier.

The player who compiled this tier list also created one for the usable in-game items, but this was just based on their personal preferences. In this list, the eject button was first, whereas potions are last.

Fans Find Out What Moves Can Land Critical Hits

It has to be said that TiMi hasn’t been overly forthcoming with information about how the game works. But the fans are a dedicated bunch, and have found most of it out themselves. First, it was finding out what the score messages actually mean, and now they’ve uncovered what moves can land critical hits.

While every basic attack can land crits, hardly any learned moves can. In fact, Garchomp, Absol, Cinderace, Crustle, Machamp, and Wigglytuff are the only ones who can learn any. Everyone else has their damage set. Incidentally, this is another field that Wigglytuff exceeds in, with all of its attacking moves able to land crits.
