Tribes Of Midgard: Tips For Killing Giants | Game Rant

Tribes of Midgard just recently released, and players have already flocked to the new survival game. Like others in the genre, players will need to collect resources, make some home base upgrades, fend off enemies, and kill giants. Well, okay — maybe the last one is just this game, but it's a key aspect of this particular title.

Players have known about the giants in Tribes of Midgard for some time now. Since the release of the first trailer, publisher Norsfell has shown off combat against these fearsome foes of legend. These enemies should not be taken lightly. One false move could lead to the destruction of the player's village and a lovely 'game over' screen. Here's how to avoid that dire scenario.

7 Don't Worry About It

It sounds a little strange to say not to worry about a giant coming to destroy the village and all the townsfolk inside, but it's true. Don't worry about the giant right away. The game will make it apparent when a giant is on the way and will also notify players when the giant is close.

These notifications will help players know when to expect these foes at their doorstep. Unfortunately, there is no notification for when the giant is actually attacking the village. Keep that in mind and don't get too carried away.

6 Upgrade, Upgrade, Upgrade

The most important thing players can do to prepare themselves for an assault from a giant is to upgrade their equipment. While it is possible to start with some basic villager weapons, but those don't deal that much damage. Upgrading the blacksmith will ensure that players can get some better gear for when the giants come knocking on the door.

It also doesn't hurt to upgrade a few other things around the base, like the archery towers. Those will come in handy if the giant reaches the village.

5 Attack Early

Odds are if a giant gets to the village, it will destroy the seed of Yggdrasil before the players can take it down. After all, giants have a minimum of forty thousand health points, meaning can certainly take a lot of hits. Plus, the more players that are in a world, the greater the health pool these giants will have.

At first, when a giant appears, it will be far away from the village, but after a night or two, it will start getting pretty close. At this point, the players can head out and start dealing damage to the giant before it reaches the village. Make sure to go during the day, though, so that the village isn't defenseless when the Helthings start swarming.

4 Know The Terrain

Knowing the terrain is a simple but effective strategy. Whenever a giant makes its appearance, run in its direction to understand what kind of obstacles are there before going out and attacking. Take out any enemy encampments so players don't have to deal with extra enemies while taking on the giant.

If there happens to be a fast travel point, activate it so that players have an easier time getting out to where the giant is. If there are a ton of hills, take some ramps and build paths to make travel easier. All of this will help when players eventually run out to attack the giant.

3 Gather Supplies

When it comes to equipment, the trapper is a great bonus to have at a player's disposal. Upgrading the trapper allows players to purchase bombs and traps. These items will come in handy when going up against the giants.

Bombs deal a good amount of damage. Some giants summon allies to help them fend off players, and so bombs can help wipe out the extra enemies and deal a good amount of damage to the giant. Traps can also help when enemies get a little overwhelming. As a bonus, the trapper offers health potions that get better if the trapper is upgraded. Having these around will come in handy if players are losing their health at rapid rates.

2 Understand Elemental Types

Like other survival games, enemies in Tribes of Midgard have weaknesses that players can exploit to give themselves an advantage. It is important to keep in mind what element to use when going up against a giant.

Each giant has an elemental type. For instance, the dark giant is weak to light damage and resistant against dark damage. The fire giant is weak to cold damage and resistant against fire damage.

1 Watch Out For The Attacks

Taking on a giant is no laughing matter. These behemoths are deadly and can easily take out a player's health if they aren't careful. Watch the giant's attack pattern, as each giant has a pretty good tell when they are about to use an attack.

Keep in mind that most of a giant's attacks have an AOE, so get away from the giant any time they are going to attack to avoid getting hit with the AOE damage. After dodging, hit the giant hard with some special weapon attacks.
