Eastasiasoft has announced the official release dates for their new action-adventure game Trigger Witch. It’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this month with next-gen versions also planned.
Trigger Witch is a stylized 2D twin-stick action game from the makers of Reverie, set in an odd open world where magic has become obsolete and firearms are the new way of life. Players take on the role of Colette, a prospective graduate of the Stock, a witchcraft and triggery academy. Following the invasion of her realm by a mysterious man, events unfold that turn Colette’s life upside down, casting her as the sole heroine with the firepower to restore peace.
Trigger Witch puts an ultra-violent spin on cute and colorful pixel art, evoking the visual style and intuitive gameplay of 16-bit action-adventure classics. With a compelling and unique narrative, perplexing environments to discover, a dynamic soundtrack, twin-stick shooter mechanics, and a plethora of enemies to blast to tiny little pieces, this is a story that will keep you engrossed from start to bloody finish.
Eastasiasoft, in collaboration with developer Rainbite, will publish Trigger Witch worldwide. Rainbite is a New Zealand-based independent game development studio. They are known best for their work on the action-adventure Reverie. They are currently busy working on Trigger Witch, which has already received four separate nominees at the New Zealand Game Awards for excellence in design, accessibility, narrative, and overall production.
Trigger Witch retails for $14.99 with a 10% launch discount available for select platforms and regions. The game will be released on Wednesday, July 28 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch on Thursday, July 29. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S editions are still in the works and will be released at a later date.
